In this splendid Tuscan town the remnants of an epoch haven’t cancelled those of previous periods but have joined them, often maintaining a physical tie with them that is also an historic continuity. Thus, through the centuries Volterra has been transformed into an authentic history book where the individual epochs are still easily recognized pages of a period lasting nearly three thousand years.
Integrating my typical points-of-interest structure with a number of graphics I will enable you to leaf through the town’s history by means of the development of the urban landscape and its close relationship to the natural features of the hill on which it stands.
